Dry Needling
What It Is:
-
Dry needling involves inserting thin, sterile needles into trigger points (knots) in the muscle tissue. Unlike acupuncture, which is rooted in traditional Chinese medicine, dry needling is based on Western anatomical and physiological principles.
How It Works:
-
The needles target specific areas of muscle tightness or spasm, stimulating the muscle to relax. This helps reduce pain, improve range of motion, and promote healing.
Cupping
What It Is:
-
Cupping therapy involves placing cups on the skin to create a vacuum or suction effect. The cups can be made of glass, silicone, or plastic, and they are either left stationary or moved along the skin.
How It Works:
-
The suction created by the cups pulls the skin and underlying tissue away from the body, promoting increased blood flow to the area. This helps relieve muscle tension, reduce pain, and improve circulation.
-
Cupping can be static (cups remain in place) or dynamic (cups are moved along the skin, also known as gliding cupping).
Orthotic Evaluation
When you are fitted for orthotics, We will have to align your pelvic girdle before taking the measurements to ensure the correct alignment. We then take measurements using a specialized box, tailoring the fit to your unique foot, knee, and hip structure.
The pelvic girdle must be aligned, which is essential for effective orthotic support and prevention of further degeneration by shifting the weight off of the degenerated area.
Misalignment in the pelvis and foot alignment can lead to uneven wear on joints, contributing to issues like degeneration of the hip and knee, particularly on the medial (inner) side. Proper alignment through custom orthotics can help reduce this risk, protecting those critical joints.
Additionally, there’s a step called ‘posting’ where I make specific adjustments to the orthotics to address imbalances in your alignment and gait. This is not something that can be achieved by ordering online, as it requires hands-on Physical Therapist expertise to position the posts accurately for your body’s specific alignment.
The orthotic is free you are paying for this orthopedic specialized assessment.
